Dinks prove key to freshman volleyball team's comeback win in final road match

PEARCY — Lake Hamilton is always a difficult place to win and, after the first game of their match with the Lady Wolves on Monday, Oct. 5, the Bryant Lady Hornets freshman team had a full understanding of that. But, to their credit, the Lady Hornets battled back to win the second and third games and the match, 20-25, 25-20, 25-19, to keep their hold on first place in the South Division of the Central Arkansas Junior High Conference.

With their fifth win in a row, the Lady Hornets improved to 13-3 overall and 10-2 in Divisional play going into their final two contests during the regular season. They host Conway Blue on Thursday then Cabot South on Monday before the start of the Central Arkansas Junior High Conference post-season tournament which will be held at Bryant.

In an eighth grade game on Monday, Lake Hamilton prevailed over Bryant White, 25-16, 25-22.

Junior Lady Hornets earn fourth straight league win on the road

NORTH LITTLE ROCK — The Bryant Lady Hornets freshman team captured their fourth straight win in the South Division of the Central Arkansas Junior High Conference, in just two games at North Little Rock on Thursday, Oct. 1.

Improving to 12-3 overall and 9-2 in divisional play, the Lady Hornets go into their final three regular-season contests atop the standings.

They were set to travel to Lake Hamilton on Monday, Oct. 5 before hosting Conway Blue (one of the teams that has beaten them this season) on Thursday. They wrap up the regular-season campaign on Monday, Oct. 12, when Cabot South visits.

Bryant will host the CAJHC post-season tournament beginning Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Bryant won in two after needing three games to extract victories in two of its last three outings. In both, they faltered in the second game.

“I have been taling to the team all week on what has been happening during our second games,” noted head coach Monica Parish. “We have been working hard on focusing during this time and it paid off at North Little Rock.”

Win over Benton gives Lady Hornets freshman team sole possession of first in South Division

Hannah Rice. (Photo by Rick Nation)The Bryant Lady Hornets freshman volleyball team surged into sole possession of first place in the South Division of the Central Arkansas Junior High Conference with a 2-1 victory over the rival Benton Junior Lady Panthers on Monday, Sept. 28.

The win came on the heels of a 2-0 sweep of Sheridan in league play on Thursday.

The Lady Hornets have won four league games in a row and improved to 8-2 versus division foes, 11-3 overall. The win over Benton avenged one of their conference losses. The two teams came into Monday’s game tied for the Division lead.

McKenzie Rice finished the match with six kills she also got the Lady Hornets in position to win the first game by serving points 9 through 12. Courtney Davidson served points 15-17. She also contributed three blocks and four assists on the night.

After the loss in game two, the third game was a tussle when the Lady Hornets got a lift off the bench from Sarah McPherson who served for points 10 through 13 to give Bryant the upper hand. Then Alyssa Anderson helped put the game and match away by serving for points 18 through 24.

Junior Lady Hornets overcome sluggish start, Mounties on the road

Photo by Rick NationLITTLE ROCK — Coming off a second-place finish in the Conway Invitational Tournament over the weekend, the Bryant Lady Hornets freshman volleyball team returned to action in the South Division of the Central Arkansas Junior High Conference on Monday and came away with a tough victory on the road. Bryant edged the Mount St. Mary’s Mounties, 29-27 in the first game of the match, then lost game two, 25-15 before rallying to win the match, 25-22, in game three.

The win improved the Lady Hornets to 6-2 overall and in divisional play this season, going into the Thursday, Sept. 24, match at home against Sheridan.

In eighth grade action, Bryant Blue won 25-15, 25-15 over Rose City while the seventh grade team prevailed 25-18, 17-25, 15-8.

Freshman Lady Hornets bounce back at Cabot; Blue eighth grade team wins

Alyssa Anderson. (Photo by Rick Nation)CABOT — The Bryant Lady Hornets freshman volleyball team bounced back from a disappointing loss at Conway in their previous outing to slip past Cabot South on Thursday, 25-9, 27-25.

The win was coupled with a 25-21, 25-8 win by Bryant Blue in an eighth grade contest.

Bryant’s freshmen return to action at a tournament at Conway on Saturday then visits Mount St. Mary’s in a return to action in the South Division of the Central Arkansas Junior High Conference on Monday, Sept. 21.

Bryant Blue returns to action against Rose City at the Bethel Middle School gym on Monday.

A seventh grade jamboree featuring both Bryant teams will be played on Saturday at the Bethel gym.

The Bryant freshmen eased to their win in the first game of their match with Cabot. Hannah Rice punctuated the victory by serving up an ace for the 20th point then closing out the game.

Conway Blue rallies to upend Lady Hornets freshmen

CONWAY — The Bryant Lady Hornets freshman volleyball team suffered just their second loss in six matches this season on Monday, Sept. 14. Conway Blue rallied after Bryant won the first game of the match with relative ease, and eked out a 14-25, 26-24, 25-23 win in the contest between rivals from the South Division of the Central Arkansas Junior High Conference.

The Bryant White eighth grade team also absorbed a setback, 13-25, 18-25.

McKenzie Rice led the freshman team with seven kills. Hannah Rice and McKenzie Adams each had five. Courtney Davidson and Rice contributed five assists each.

In service, Hannah Rice served the Lady Hornets from points 3 through 7 then 20 to 24 in the first game. Alyssa Anderson took the Lady Hornets from points 9 to 13. In the second, Hannah Rice served points 21 to 24. In the third game, McKenzie Rice served from 8 to 12.

“Most of our kills were in the first game,” mentioned coach Monica Parish. “The other two games, we were not aggressive and settled for way too many free balls which led to Conway having more offensive plays.”

Bryant freshman team improves to 4-1 with victory over Lake Hamilton

The Bryant Lady Hornets freshman team made it two wins in a row and four in five outings this season by sweeping the Lake Hamilton Junior Lady Wolves, 25-12, 25-20, at the Bryant Middle School gym on Thursday, Sept. 10.

An eighth grade game involving Bryant Blue (Bethel Middle School) was cancelled when Lake Hamilton was unable to accumulate enough players to play.
