ABA, Diamond Sports teaming up on new program

Arkansas Baseball Academy (ABA) director Bryan Jones recently announced the[more] addition of a new program in central Arkansas.

“The ABA currently forms teams of elite high school players in order to showcase them to college coaches,” he said. “In an effort to develop good, young players for these showcase years,14, 13, and 12 year old teams will be formed to compete in USSSA tournaments.

“The ABA understands that great baseball starts with great coaches,” he continued. “So, to make our program even better, the ABA has secured the services of the outstanding coaches of Diamond Sports. This coaching staff will include Keith Horn, Boyd Goodner, and Steve Miller. In this group is a former Razorback, an Arkansas State Hall of Fame member and Cleveland Indian pitcher, as well as an NAIA standout. “Our intention is to form multiple teams in the 14, 13, and 12 yearold age groups,” Jones stated. “Based on a tryout to be held in the coming weeks, teams will be selected and play in four USSSA tournaments this fall.

"Not only will these teams be coached by Diamond Sports coaches, each player will also receive a four-pack of 30-minute private lessons with one of the coaches at Diamond Sports as part of their tuition to the program," said Jones. "You will have the freedom to choose whether you would like pitching lessons, hitting lessons, or a combination of the two.

“Once you see the impact of these positive, passionate and knowledgeable coaches on your son’s baseball ability this fall, we are confident you will want to see this continue,” he added. “For this reason, we will also be continuing this program in the spring/summer for those who would like to participate.”
