Annual Taste of Bryant a hit again

By Martin Couch

Despite the change of venue to the Bryant Middle School eighth grade cafeteria last Thursday, the Taste of Bryant went off without a hitch.Restaurants from around Saline County and specific to Bryant allowed visitors a taste of their specialties drawing a crowd of around 150.[more]

"Despite the location change, we did every bit as well on the money made," said Bryant Chamber of Commerce executive director Rae Ann Fields. "We were down some on attendance, but that made for better traffic flow. We had many, many comments about how nicely it was run this year."

The Taste of Bryant was aided by the assistance of Bryant dance team members, who were on hand for community service activities that will lead them to the national dance competition in Florida next February. Also, several politicians and Bryant dignitaries were among the crowd that filled the cafeteria for the event.

The silent auction that featured a table full of different items in the center of the room gained a lot of notice with bids from those in attendance.

For the most part, patrons enjoyed steak, spicy chicken sandwiches, pizza, pasta, chicken fried steak with green beans and mashed potatoes, waffles on a stick, sweet tea, pastries, red beans and rice, breakfast burritos, nachos and many other tasty dishes offered.

Some of the silent auction items that were bid on have not yet been picked up. Fields asks that those who won outbid for the items come to the Chamber of Commerce to claim them.
