Benton, Bryant donate 750 pints in Salt Bowl blood drives

The Red Cross received 279 blood donations in Bryant and Benton at the third annual Salt Bowl blood drives on Sept. 4-5.

Including this year’s donation totals, more than 750 pints of blood have been donated during the Salt Bowl blood drives.

Benton High School has been dubbed the winner of the Salt Bowl blood drives battle for 2013.

“We feel like everyone is a winner,” said Michele Wright, CEO of the Red Cross Greater-Ozarks Arkansas Blood Services Region. “The donations from the Salt Bowl competition will help save lives, and every person who took time to try and donate made a difference in the lives of patients. We think that’s the biggest reward.”

The Red Cross will present Benton High School with a winner’s trophy during the school’s pep rally prior to the Sept. 27 Salt Bowl football game.
