Bethel coach pleased with seventh grade team despite narrow defeat

The Bryant Blue Hornets seventh grade team of Bethel Middle School led much of the way but fell victim to a late surge by Lake Hamilton in a 29-21 loss.

“It was a close, fast and physical game all night,” said Bethel coach Dominic Lincoln. “We led most of the game by 1 or 2 points but never could really extend a lead.

“Even though we lost, I felt that this was the best performance I have seen them play all year,” he said of his team. “And they finally began to play with a level of toughness that has me excited about next year.”

Ethan Hilkert led the Hornets with 8 points. Kayleb West had 5, Jonathan Hall 4 with Brandon Weems and Cade Drennan adding 2 apiece.

The Hornets return to action against Bryant White on Thursday.
