Bethel girls notch wins at Wildcat Shootout

LITTLE ROCK — Kendal Rogers and Sarah Kennedy combined for 21 points as the Bryant Blue[more] Lady Hornets eighth grade team of Bethel Middle School opened the Wildcat Shootout at Episcopal Collegiate Academy Tuesday with a 31-21 victory over the Anthony School.

In addition, the Bryant Blue seventh grade team opened play in the tourney with 28-20 win.

The eighth grade team was set to play again today at 4 p.m., against Redfield while the seventh grade team takes on E-Stem Charter School at 5.

The Lady Hornets eighth grade team bounced back from having its five-game winning streak snapped by Conway White last Thursday. The win improved their overall record to 6-2.

Rogers finished with 11 points and Kennedy 10. In addition, Reagan McCormick scored 4 with Riley Hill, Bethany Hutchison and Kasey Ward adding 2 each. Ward pulled down three rebounds along the way.

The Lady Hornets built a 13-4 lead by the end of the first quarter and held a 15-6 edge at the half. The advantage grew to 26-15 going into the fourth quarter.

In the seventh grade game, Raija Todd poured in 18 points for Bethel. Baylee Rowton had 6 and Danielle Singleton 4.
