Bethel girls sweep Episcopal

The Bryant Blue Lady Hornets eighth grade volleyball team of Bethel Middle School improved to 4-0 on the season with a 25-5, 25-9 win over Little Rock Episcopal on Tuesday night.

The Bethel seventh grade team notched its first win of the season as well, 25-16, 25-18.

In the eighth grade contest, Ashlyn Lee served up eight aces and had a kill to lead the way for Bethel.

“The girls served really well,” said Lady Hornets coach Melissa Bragg. “A lot of players contributed to the win. It was a great team win.”

Lauren Brantley had five aces, Lauren Hart four and Katelin Cotton three. Abby Henson and Regan Ryan added two aces apiece with Henson adding a kill.

In the seventh grade match, Bragg said, “We scored points from seven of Bailey Cunningham’s serves, six from Ally Benoit’s serves, four from Cassie Ray, and two each from Madi Draper and Alyssa Sawyer.”

The eighth grade team returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 5, at Lake Hamilton while the seventh grade doesn’t play again until Monday, Sept. 9, at home against the Anthony School.
