Bryant Blue advances past Bryant White in girls’ tourney semifinal

LITTLE ROCK — The Bryant Blue Lady Hornets eighth grade team of Bethel Middle School outscored the[more] Bryant White Lady Hornets of Bryant Middle School 11-1 in the second quarter then held off a late rally to complete a 30-27 win Tuesday night.

Bryant Blue will advance in the Anthony School Tournament to play on Thursday in the championship game against either Arkansas Baptist or the host team.

Riley Hill hit two free throws with :07 left in the game on Tuesday to clinch the victory. She finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and two steals for Bryant Blue. Reagan McCormick added 11 points, Kendal Rogers 6 and Sarah Kennedy 1.

“Riley Hill played as good as I have seen her play,” stated Bryant Blue coach Rhonda Hall.

For Bryant White, Deja Rayford had 9 points and Destiny Martin 8. Jadyn Lewis finished with 5, Reagan Blend 3. Kennedy Harris and Lauren Lessenberry each pitched in with a free throw.

The game was tied 10-10 after a quarter. By halftime, Bryant Blue led 21-11. Bryant White began whittling on the margin in the second half and was within 24-17 going into the fourth quarter.

Bryant White returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Cabot South.
