LITTLE ROCK — The Bryant Blue Lady Hornets eighth grade basketball team of Bethel Middle School opened the[more] 2011-12 season Thursday night with a heartbreaking 22-21 loss to the Anthony School Lady Panthers.
Bryant Blue led 8-7 after a quarter and 11-9 at the half. But Anthony put together an 8-2 surge in the third quarter to build a 17-13 lead then held on for the win at the end.
Brittany Sahlmann led the Lady Hornets with 6 points and six rebounds. Kara Moser also scored 6 points. Kailey Nagle had 3 while Peyton Ramsey, Annie Patton and Anna Turpin pitched in with 2 points apiece. Ramsey hauled down five boards.
The Lady Hornets return to action on Monday in a tournament at the Anthony School. They take on Little Rock Episcopal Collegiate at 5:30 p.m.
