Bryant chosen to host AA American Legion State tourney in July

The Bryant Athletic Association and the Black Sox American Legion baseball program have been[more] selected to host the AA State Tournament this summer.

The tournament will be held in mid-July with 14 to 16 teams from around the state competing. Because of the size of the tournament, the double-elimination format, it will probably be held over two weekends, according to Bryant Everett AA Black Sox coach Jason Thompson, probably July 12 through 14 and July 20 through 24.

There are four divisions in American Legion. Senior Legion is a 19-and-under division for teams pulling from larger school districts or a group of school districts that add up to a level of attendance. AA Legion is 19-and-under for teams pulling from smaller school districts and 18-and-under teams from larger areas. Junior Legion is for 17-and-under teams and A Legion is for 16-and-under teams.

This summer there will be Senior, AA and Junior Black Sox teams. The AA team will be sponsored by Everett Buick GMC, the Junior team will be sponsored by the Sports Shop and the Senior team will be sponsored by the BAA.
Registration for the teams will be held this Sunday.
