Bryant’s Matthews selected to help coach All-Star girls

Brad Matthews, head coach of the Bryant Lady Hornets basketball team, has been chosen as an assistant on[more] the East team in the 2012 Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star game. The 57th annual event will be played at Bud Walton Arena on the campus of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville June 20 at 6 p.m.

Matthews will be an assistant to Rusty Garner of Harding Academy for the East squad. He’ll be joined by Trey Harding of Greene County Tech and Steve Wiedower of Russellville.

In his first year at Bryant, Matthews led a team with just one returning starter to the State Tournament as the No. 4 seed from the 7A-Central Conference. The team finished 14-15 after a first-round loss to Bentonville after being 13-9 at one point. Hampered by injury late in the season, they lost six of their last seven games. The Lady Hornets were 6-8 in league play.
