KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A trio of Bryant wrestlers finished in the top 10 at the annual Brute Adidas National meet held Saturday, April 3.

Sophomore O’Dell Lee III, freshman Brett Blend and seventh-grader Alex Denker each earned all-America honors.

Lee, finishing third in his weight class, was reportedly the highest ranked wrestler from Arkansas at the national event which included over 50 wrestlers from the state including seven state champions.

Denker finished fourth in his weight class while Blend earned a seventh-place finish.

The Bryant contingent of wrestlers also included freshman Hunter Schelle and sophomore Brandon Powell.

Lee and Bryant teammate Scott Mead are planning to compete in a tournament in Germantown, Tenn., this weekend.

LITTLE ROCK — Freshman Levi Brady has captured what is believed to be the first wrestling championship in a statewide competition for a Bryant athlete.

At the second annual Arkansas State Youth wrestling tournament held Saturday, March 13, at Pulaski Academy, Brady won the 175-pound weight class for 15-year-old wrestlers.

In addition, Bryant freshman Hunter Schelle recorded the fastest pin of the tournament, winning in 15 seconds. Another freshman from Bryant, Brett Blend, finished second in his weight class.

CABOT — In a three-team wrestling match on Tuesday, Jan. 12, the Bryant Hornets edged the Van Buren Pointers, 39-36, but lost to Cabot, 46-28.

For Bryant, sophomores O’Dell Lee and Seth Bryant along with senior Jonathan Roberts went 2-0 in their matches for the night.

LITTLE ROCK — O’Dell Lee took top honors in the 189-pound division to lead the Bryant Hornets to a fourth-place finish in the season-opening Classic In The Rock wrestling tournament at Little Rock Hall on Saturday, Dec. 5.

Bryant finished with 116 points. Along with Lee’s first-place finish, the Hornets had three second-place finishes and two fourth’s.

Little Rock Central won the meet with 204 points. Little Rock Catholic was second with 164, winning four divisions along the way. North Pulaski was third with 152. In all, 12 teams competed at the event.

The Bryant High School wrestling team begins its second season at a tournament at Little Rock Central on Saturday. Head coach Elliott Jacobs welcomes back six returning lettermen including Brandon Powell who finished second in the state in the 103-pound division last season.

Other returning lettermen include Forest Fowler (135-pound division), Justin Davis (145), Nick Philpott (152), Jacob Brady (171) and Chris Hendrix (285).
