City seeks volunteers to help with ‘walkability’ survey

The City of Bryant is asking for volunteers and interest organizations to participate in a[more] walkability survey this Saturday, Nov. 5, from 8 a.m. to noon, starting at Bishop Park.

According to City Clerk Heather D. Kizer, the City prepared a Master Trails Plan in August of 2009. The Plan was adopted in December of 2009 under Ordinance 2009-26.

“The Walkability Study will follow the proposed trail system to assess current conditions of sidewalks, trails, roadways, right-of-ways and other public access areas,” Kizer said. “Volunteers will take written notes and pictures to document their observations along their walk. Disposable camera and worksheets will be provided.”

Kizer noted that instruction for the survey will begin at 7 a.m., Saturday.

“Donate a couple of hours of your time to help change the City of Bryant for the better for all citizens and future generations,” she urged. “Statistics show that a more connected walkable community will thrive economically, socially, and will improve the overall health of the city.”
