Comeback falls short at Bryant White eighth grade boys absorb first loss

CONWAY — The Bryant White Hornets eighth grade team of Bryant Middle School struggled early and, despite a third-quarter rally, came up short of a full comeback in a 52-46 loss to Conway Blue on Tuesday night.

Tristan Calhoun led the team in scoring with 13 points. Kaevon Jones added 10, James Polite 7 and Jake Forst 4.

“We did not get off to a good start, and had to play from behind very early,” noted Hornets coach Heath Long. “We struggled with their athleticism, and turned the ball over some.

“We managed in the third quarter to cut the lead to 3, but could not get any closer than that,” he continued. “I’m glad that we showed heart and didn’t give in. We will take this game and learn from it and hopefully beat this team when they come to play us on Dec. 3rd.”

In the meantime, Bryant White, now 1-1, will host Little Rock Horace Mann on Monday, Nov. 25.
