The monthly city council meeting began Thursday night with reports from several[more] department heads. Monty Ledbetter, Water/Wastewater Superintendent, started the department updates by informing the board about the Augusta Cove project, that is 99 percent finished, and the Forest Cove project that is 60 percent completed. The two million gallon water tank is also in the middle of being constructed and is approximately 60 percent complete, according to Ledbetter.

The board was then informed by LaVenia Jones, Community Director Administrator, that the planning commission is still working on the sign ordinance and there has been a final public hearing scheduled for later in July. Once the hearing takes place, the planning commission plans to have the sign ordinance to the Council by the meeting in July.

The Council later approved amendments to the Rules and Regulations for The Center at Bishop Park. Mayor Jill Dabbs thanked the Council for passing the amendments saying, “These rules have really changed the atmosphere.”

Other items on the agenda included approval of the Bryant Aquatic Center Concession Rental Agreement, the Silver Sneakers Program and American Healthways, and approval of an amendment to Fire Department Rules and Regulations.
