Council passes sign ordinance

The proposed Sign Ordinance for the city of Bryant was approved Thursday night at the[more] September meeting of the Bryant City Council.

After drawn-out and contentious negotiations over the last year and, with the Bryant Chamber of Commerce in agreement, the Council had the second and third reading of the ordinance Thursday night and the ordinance was approved.

In addition it was announced that Cityofbryant.com is undergoing a makeover that will go live this morning on a soft launch that will last through Dec. 15. During this time, all of the different departments within the city will be able to add information on the website.

The finances for the city are "looking good" going into 2013, according to the city finance director. Budget meetings and workshops are being scheduled for the near future to begin setting the budget for 2013.

Ordinance 2009-23 regarding online credit card transactions for Water and Wastewater bills, was approved. This allows the 7,300 citizens that pay their water bills online to forgo the added $3.50 fee that comes with running credit cards. However, citizens will now be charged a $5.00 fee for calling and making their payment over the phone to the water department.

Woodland Park Road improvements were originally approved at $100,000 but after the improvements began, an additional $50,000 is needed to complete the road. The council approved the additional $50,000.

Those on hand for the meeting were reminded that the annual Bryant Fall Fest will be Saturday, Oct. 6, at Bishop Park and will kick off with a parade that will be routed down the new Woodland Park Road to Boone Road and conclude at Bishop Park.
