Randy L. Cox, resident of Bryant for over 26 years, has announced his candidacy for Bryant Alderman for[more] Ward 2, Position 2.

Cox, 52, recently retired from the City of Bryant where he served the community for 22 years with the Bryant Fire Department, 13 of which were as fire chief. Before becoming fire chief, he was employed with Wells Fargo Armored Service for 20 years. As regional manager for Wells Fargo, he received recognition for regional efficiency in operations, along with recognition for expense control. Cox was instrumental in founding “Strike Force Team” which dealt with corporate mergers and acquisitions.

Cox said he is also always looking to the future, not just looking at today. He has applied for and received multiple grants for the fire department, for equipment, saving the city thousands of dollars. Cox was voted unanimously by the Mayor and city council in 2008 to serve as incident commander for operation flood relief, working with F.E.M.A. state agencies, city council and all city departments to repair and obtain funding for recovery efforts for affected citizens and city infrastructure.

Cox was instrumental in the grass roots effort to provide a fulltime professional fire department, along with the design and oversite of construction of the Bryant Public Safety Facility that serves as the headquarters for the Police and Fire departments. The project was budgeted for $4. 5 million and when completed the project came in $200,000 under budget. Also while serving as fire chief, the I.S.O. (homeowner/business insurance premiums) went from a class 5 to class 3, lowering premiums paid by property owners.
Cox and his wife of 32 years, Terri, have lived in Bryant for 26 years. They have two children, both graduates of Bryant Schools, and three granddaughters. Josh

is a Lieutenant for the North Little Rock fire department, and his wife Cassie, also a Bryant graduate, is employed by McDonalds as Human Resource Director. They live in Bryant with 4-year-old McKenzie and, due in September, Cadence. Mindy is employed with the City of Bryant Water Utilities. She and 4-year-old daughter Lilly live in Bryant.

Cox has been a member of the Bryant Chamber of Commerce and serves on the board of directors as president-elect for the Bryant Boys and Girls Club as well as serving on several committees throughout the city.

Cox is familiar with the infrastructure of the city along with the budgeting process and funding for the city and all its departments. He said he feels that the knowledge he has obtained concerning the inner workings of the city over the past 13 years will allow him to easily transition into the position of alderman. He also feels that his past skills at being able to bring people together during times of crisis and dealing with difficult decisions will be an asset to the job. Cox hopes he is given the opportunity to continue serving not only the citizens of Bryant, but the employees of Bryant as well.

“Any constituents who wish to contact me and/or need a yard sign, please call me at 847-4022 or e mail checktheboxforrandycox@gmail.com,” Cox said. “Check the Box for Randy Cox.”
