Final open house meetings on Downtown Revitalization Project set for Jan. 22

Imagine Central Arkansas in partnership with Gateway Planners Group has completed their recommendations in a report for the Bryant city council to consider in regards to the Bryant Downtown Revitalization Project.  In 2013, Bryant was chosen along with four other cities to be a recipient of the Jumpstart Planning Grant worth $200,000 to assist in revitalizing the older, historical part of the city which is often referred to as the heart of Bryant.

Over the last year, several community meetings were held and input from residents was taken into consideration and molded these plans as they were developed. Dave Green, Planning Director for the City of Bryant, will present the report to the Bryant City Council this month for them to accept. This report will be used as a guide to develop zoning that will protect the ideas and vision developed by the citizens and planners.

Following the acceptance of this report, the city of Bryant will be officially be awarded $1.8 million to go towards intersection improvement funds.  These monies will directly impact the safety and connectivity and will be a catalysts for other things to come for the downtown revitalization that is reflective of the community’s vision for a town center.

Mayor Jill Dabbs, in partnership with the City Council, is hosting two “Open House” meetings so that any additional questions or concerns that residents have, may be addressed before moving forward. Both meetings will be held next Thursday, Jan. 22,  in the Fellowship Hall at the First Baptist Church on North Reynolds Road.  The meetings will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  These are “drop-in”  style meetings and staff members from both the City of Bryant and Metroplan will be on hand to answer questions.
