Free ACT will be available for all BHS juniors

By Jamie Miller

Every junior at Bryant High School will be given the ACT test free of charge on April 1 and 2. The[more] students will complete the Interest Inventory that is normally done online prior to taking the test on April 1st. The test will be administered on April 2nd from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

There is no need for students to register for the test but they must be present on both days in order to participate in testing. The Interest Inventory must be completed prior to taking the exam.

According to District Communications Director Devin Sherrill, "The Arkansas Department of Education gave districts permission to use NSLA money to pay for the ACT."

Act 881 of 2007 established the Voluntary Universal ACT Assessment program (VUAA), which provides an opportunity for all students in grade 11 to participate in one administration of the ACT assessment.

"This is a good service for our students,” said Bryant Schools superintendent Randy Rutherford. “This will help make the test possible for families who might not be able to afford the testing fee."
