CABOT — It doesn’t get much closer than it was in the freshman volleyball match between the Bryant Lady Hornets and the Cabot North Lady Panthers Monday night.

In the first Central Arkansas Junior High Conference outing for the Lady Hornets, it came down to the third game. Cabot North had won the first game 25-23 and Bryant had won the second by the same miniscule margin. It came down to the wire but the Lady Panthers held on for a 15-13 win in the third game to carry the match.

“Overall, I was very pleased with the girls,” said Bryant coach Julie Long. “Even though it was a heartbreaker, I am happy with where the girls are at. We are improving every game and I think that is always what a coach wants to see. They are constantly working to become better in the areas they know they are weak in.

“No one likes to lose but this gave us a good measurement on where we are and I believe the girls will want to work harder to push the barrier down to win those close games,” she added. “A goal of ours will be to try to learn how to win those close games.”

Long praised the play of Alex Dillard and Sarah Kennedy.

The Lady Hornets are set to host Conway White on Thursday.
