Habitat for Humanity’s ‘Souper Bowl Cookoff’ is Feb. 4 (re-post)

BENTON – Habitat for Humanity of Saline County will host its annual Souper Bowl Kickoff Cook-off, on Friday, Feb. 4, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The competition will take place in[more] the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church in downtown Benton. Ticket prices are $5 per person and can be purchased at the door, or in advance at the Habitat ReStore and the Habitat office.

Anyone from the community is welcome to enter a pot of soup, chili, or both into the competition. The overall winner will be determined based on the total amount of money received in each team’s tip jar. Team registration is free. However, teams are encouraged to donate a themed gift basket into the event’s silent auction.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Apostles Build in September.

“Help Habitat for Humanity move one step closer to ending sub-standard housing in Saline County by attending the 2011 Souper Bowl Kickoff,” urged Habitat Resource Development Director Drew Williams.
