Hornets B team off to 5-1 start

Bryant Hornets assistant baseball coach Mark Jelks reports that the B team is 5-1 on the season. The squad swept two games from Little Rock Mills, 17-1 and 20-0, split with Pine Bluff winning 9-5 and losing 2-0, then swept Sheridan, 12-6 and 12-5.

"We have done a fantastic job at the plate as a team, with the exception of our only loss," Jelks said. "Standouts thus far at the plate have been Chris Joiner, Brodie Nixon, Quinton Motto and Trent Rivers as well as Tyler Brown and Bo Stitch who have been moved up to the varsity roster due to their showing the past week.

"Another key to our success has been quality pitching led by Matt Neal, Brown, Motto, Seth Alkire, Austin Shirtleff and a surprising showing by Ryan Weng to close out the final game against Sheridan.

"As a staff, we have stressed the importance of attacking on offense and our young me have done an excellent job thus far," the coach concluded.
The B team is scheduled to host Little Rock Central on Monday, March 16, at 5:30 p.m.
