Junior Hornets youth team buries Cabot, improves to 6-0

The Bryant Junior Hornets 9- and 10-year old football team used the true definition of a balanced attack to defeat the Cabot Panthers last Saturday, 42-0, to move to 6-0 and in total control of the Central Arkansas Youth Football League.

The team, which is coached by Tim Adams and assisted by DJ Miller, Eric Nicholas, Greg Riggs and Lee Ledbetter, consists of Hart Penfield, Will Hanson, Gavin Burton, Braden Robinson, Aiden Adams, Ryan Riggs, Hayden Purdy, Turner Seelinger, Christian Cain, Hayden Brent, Cameron Scarlett, Austin Ledbetter, Brayden Godwin, Tyler Nicholas, Logan Pritchard, Trey Miller, Bryce Rankin, Kory Shelnut, and Zach Feimster.

Bryant got on the board quickly when Austin Ledbetter took the opening play 45 yards for a touchdown and the route was on. The Junior Hornets then took the word balanced attack to a whole new level over the rest of the game as all 17 available kids got to carry the ball at least once as they amassed 199 yards of total offense and 35 points. Scores by Cain, Burton, Brent, Ledbetter and Godwin plus extra points by Shelnut and Nicholas led to all the Bryant offensive output.

As usual, the defense was dominant holding Cabot to minus-40 yards total offense while creating three Cabot turnovers including the fourth defensive touchdown of the year. Adams picked off an errant Cabot pass and walked into the end zone for a score. The defense now has held Bryant opponents to a combined minus-35 yards total offense on the season and has only given up one touchdown.

The Junior Hornets were set to continue their march for a super bowl title Saturday, Oct. 5, in Jacksonville against the Landmark.
