Kimbrell announces retirement; Walters to take over as Bryant superintendent in 2017

Dr. Tom Kimbrell has announced his retirement as superintendent of Bryant Public Schools effective June 30, 2017. Dr. Kimbrell submitted his retirement notice to the Bryant School Board during executive session at the Nov. 17 meeting.

“Since I plan to retire at the end of this school year, I wanted the faculty, staff and patrons of Bryant Schools to know now and not after the millage election on March 14, 2017,” said Dr. Kimbrell. “This school district is on the verge of rocketing to the next level and it needs an energetic and creative leader. The school board offered the superintendency to Dr. Karen Walters, which she accepted. I believe this district will be in great hands under her leadership.”

Walters has served as Deputy Superintendent since July 2014.
