Lady Hornets overwhelm Lady Panthers with early barrage

In the first 12 minutes of the 40-minute first half, the Bryant Lady Hornets had amassed a 6-0 lead over the rival Benton Lady Panthers. With the starters on the bench, the Lady Hornets added two more goals and led 8-0 at the half. The second half was played under the sportsmanship rule with the 40 minutes cut to 20.

The Lady Hornets, now 15-1, overwhelmed the Lady Panthers with four goals in the first 10 minutes. Caroline Campbell finished with three goals in the third game in a row. Anna Lowery had two goals while Allison Hughes, Jasmine Sauers and Jessica Butler contributed one each.

Campbell’s first goal came within the first 1:30 of the contest. Hughes had the assist. Two minutes later, that duo teamed up again to make it 2-0.

Hughes drilled a goal at 35:09 off a feed from Kendall Selig who, moments later, assisted on Campbell’s third goal at the 30:12 mark.

Campbell assisted on Lowery’s first goal less than a minute later. Exactly 37 seconds passed before Lowery found the range again off the third assist by Selig, this time off a corner kick.

It didn’t take the reserves long to find the back of the net either. Sauers’ goal off an assist by Natalie Pierce came at the 22:06 mark. Butler’s goal was on a follow shot at 6:16 of the first half.

Benton managed one shot on goal and it was saved by Maddie Hawkins, the Bryant keeper.

The Lady Hornets were 8 of 19 on their shots with all but one coming inside the box area. They only attempted one shot in the abbreviated second half.

Bryant returns to 7A/6A-Central Conference action on Friday against the league team that has played them closer than anyone, Mount St. Mary Academy. On March 31, the Lady Hornets won in a shootout after regulation play ended tied 1-1.
