On Saturday, Sept. 18, Keith Horn, pitching instructor at Diamond Sports of Bryant, will be inducted into the Arkansas State University Sports Hall of Fame in Jonesboro.

Horn played baseball at Pine Bluff High School during the early 1990s where, as a starting pitcher, he led the Zebras to a 4A State championship. In addition to being named the MVP of the 4A State Tournament and his selection for the All-State Team, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette selected Horn as Sophomore Player of the Year in 1990 and as Player of the Year in 1992. He was also selected to the Mizuno High School All-American Team and named the Golden Diamond Amateur Junior Baseball Player of the Year for the State of Arkansas.[more]

Horn represented the United States as part of the Silver Medalist baseball team in the World Junior Olympics in 1992.

He signed with Arkansas State University immediately following high school and was the starting pitcher for the Indians for three seasons. He was selected for the All Freshman Sun Belt team and the All SBC team twice and was named MVP of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in 1994.

The Cleveland Indians organization drafted Horn in the 17th round in June of 1995. He pitched in the organization for three years. During that time, the team won the New York – Penn League championship.

Since his playing days, he has been an instructor for the Norm DeBryn Winter Baseball Camps at the University of Arkansas, an instructor and manager of the Mountain Valley Sports Center in Pine Bluff, and a pitching instructor for Competitive Edge Sports Academy in Little Rock.

“Diamond Sports is proud to have Keith Horn as an instructor of baseball pitching and softball fastpitch,” said Pat Harrison, Director of Instruction. “The owners and staff of Diamond Sports want to congratulate Coach Keith Horn on his induction into the Arkansas State University Sports Hall of Fame.”

On Sunday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m., Horn will conduct a clinic for Off Season Maintenance for Baseball Pitchers.

Free to members, the cost is $15 for non-members.

Horn will discuss various exercises for off-season strengthening. The players will go home with plans for a 4 to 8 week conditioning program used by Horn when he was a pitcher in the Indians organization.
