No decision for Wood in latest start for Louisville

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Bryant’s Travis Wood pitched well but, for the second game in a row, received no decision in his latest start for the Louisville Bats, the AAA affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, on Sunday.

He worked six innings, allowing six hit and two earned runs. He struck out five and walked none. He was relieved after the sixth wit the game tied 2-2. The Buffalo Bisons (New York Mets) rallied from a 4-2 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the 10th to extract a 6-4 win. It was Louisville’s ninth straight loss.[more]

Wood shut out the Bisons on four hits over the first five innings, retiring 11 out of 12 batters during one stretch. The Bats took a 2-0 lead into the home sixth. A lead-off double and a one-out home run by Mike Hessman spoiled the shutout for the lefty who, after retiring the next two batters, was pinch-hit for in the top of the seventh.

Wood remains 0-3 on the season with a 3.77 earned run average. His 31 innings pitched tops the team. In those 31 innings, he has allowed 31 hits, walked eight and struck out 32.
