PINE BLUFF — Kyle Nossaman, Cade Howard and Callie Hogancamp each won singles matches as the Bryant High School tennis team opened the 2010 season on Thursday, Sept. 2, against Pine Bluff.
In addition, the team of Allie Hogancamp and Payton Jenkins won a doubles match as did Erica Pounders and Emma Patrick.
Nossaman defeated Kevin Bland, 8-3, at No. 1 boys singles while Howard topped DeCory Rice, 8-2, at No. 2.
Callie Hogancamp’s win came over Lan Iverson, 8-1, in girls No. 1 singles.
In doubles, Allie Hogancamp and Jenkins downed Shay Roberts and Taylor Hopkins, 8-4. Pounders and Patrick outlasted Pine Bluff’s Britt Versey and Rachel Parker, 10-8.
In other boys action, No. 1 doubles team of Cody Higgins and Malik Flint fell to Lawrence Baker and Rice, 1-8. At No. 2, Brandon Powell and Justin Travis as well.
In singles, Pine Bluff’s Ladarius Washington defeated Nick Ross, 8-0; John Spicer bested Flint, 8-2; and Baker topped Higgins, 8-1.
In girls play, Lauren Boyer was defeated by Pine Bluff’s Shared Triplett, 4-8, at No. 2 singles. In a doubles match, Triplett and Aja Richardson knocked off Bryant’s Autum Rouse and Kristen Dudley, 8-4.
The BHS team is set to play at Tindall Park in Benton against the Panthers and Little Rock McClellan on Tuesday. They’ll host Conway at Otter Creek on Thursday.
