LAKE VILLAGE — The Bryant 9-year-old All-Stars have advanced to the winners bracket final tonight where they will meet the rival Benton All-Stars at the Cal Ripken State Tournament for 9’s. An 8-1 win over the Camden All-Stars on Sunday advanced the Bryant Stars.
The Bryant 9-year-old All-Stars are Aidan Adams,
Justin Orender, Ryan Riggs,
Garrett Wilson. They are managed by Matt Orender. He's assisted by Jeff Clay and Paul Speer.
With three runs in the first and four in the second, Bryant took control of the game as Adams and the team’s defense limited Camden to four hits over the first four innings. Camden scored its lone run on two hits in the fifth right after Bryant added its eight run in the top of the inning.
The game began with a walk to Noah Davis who stole second and third as Speer drew a free pass. He scored when Wilson bounced into a force at second.
A steal by Wilson preceded a single by Dillon. The duo worked a double steal to get the second run in. Dillon stole third as well and came in on Schroeder’s grounder to first.
The fourth inning uprising started with Orender socking a double. He stole third and scored on Adams’ grounder to second.
Noah Davis got things revved up again with a base hit and two steals. Speer walked and stole second then Wilson was hit by a pitch. When Dillon was struck by a 3-1 delivery, it forced in Davis.
Schroeder greeted a new pitcher with a base hit that made it 7-0.
The final run came when Orender cracked his third hit and second double and Adams singled him in to start the fifth.
Meanwhile, Adams worked around a lead-off single in the bottom of each of the first two innings. The third began with a walk but, again, nothing came of it. In the fourth, he hit a batter with one out but that runner was stranded as well.
In the fifth, Adams was a strike away from a shutout win but a base hit drove in the batter who had opened the inning with a double.
