Diamond Sports adds Mercado to staff

Diamond Sports has announced the addition of Chad Mercado to its coaching staff as a catcher, infield, hitting, and pitching coach.
Mercado played middle-infield, pitcher, and catcher for Mills University Studies High School in Little Rock, where he earned All-Conference and Xtra Innings honors. Mercado earned second team All-Jayhawk Conference while playing third base and catcher for Pratt Community College.

After JUCO, he played Division I baseball at Southeast Missouri State University where he threw out 41 percent of base runners and had a .990 fielding percentage for his career. During the summers in college, Mercado spent his time in the Major League Baseball-sponsored Valley League playing for the Covington Lumberjacks in Virginia, where he won the Valley League Championship in 2005 and was an All-Star in 2006. He is currently finishing his Masters in Teaching at UCA while teaching at Beebe High School.
