Habitat for Humanity's Turkey Bowl 2011 to be held at Bishop Park

Habitat for Humanity of Saline County Youth United will host the Turkey Bowl 2011 kickball tournament for youth and adults to be held Saturday, Nov. 12, at Bishop Park in Bryant.

Team registration will be at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event. The tournament begins at 9 a.m. Youth under 18 must have parental consent signed in order to play. Deadline for registration is Monday, Nov. 7.

Youth United teaches leadership and teamwork skills. Through Youth United, students gain a better understanding of their communities and poverty housing. All students are engaged in fundraising, education and advocacy activities and those over 16 help with actual house construction.

The four goals of Youth United:

• Involve youth in their communities.

• Engage youth in Habitat's mission of eliminating poverty housing.

• Foster teamwork among diverse groups of youth.

• Develop youth leaders.
