Quartet of Bryant seniors, former Hogs to play in benefit basketball game

Bryant’s Kenzee Calley, K-Ron Lairy, Alana Morris and Brandon Parish will be among the Saline County high school senior basketball all-stars who will take on team of former Arkanas athletes in a benefit game at 7 p.m., on Friday, May 7, at the Benton High School Arena.

The Razorbacks for Reading benefit game will be hosted by the Leadership Saline County, Class V, as a fundraiser for Imagination Library of Saline County.

Local high school dance teams will perform at halftime as well as the Hurricane Creek Elementary School fifth grade Teams of Tomorrow. A Cliff Lee signed Philadelphia Phillies World Series jersey will provide the highlight of a live auction at halftime. There will also be a silent auction for items that include a basketball signed by the Arkansas Razorbacks’ Rotnei Clarke.

Along with the quartet from Bryant, the players on the Saline County team will include Reed Ulmer, Chris Martindale, Julie Davis and Ashley Martindale of Benton; Travis Woods and Amanda Bradbury of Bauxite; Travis Holloman and Chelsea Walker of Glen Rose; and Zac Morgan and Lauren McNeely of Harmony Grove.

The Hogs team will include Ernie Murry, Stephen Cox, Sunday Adebayo, Billy Pharis, Sammy Munsey, Anthony Lucas and Chris Baker.

The Imagination Library project was established by country music singer Dolly Parton in Tennessee with the mission to provide children 6 and under with books. There is a program in at least one community in all 50 states. Saline County recently adopted the program and is in the early stages of raising money to fund it.

Leadership Saline County is a development program that is working to cultivate leadership by energizing and educating existing and emerging leaders in the community. By further developing the leaders in the community, the hope is to improve the life of every resident through increased social and economic opportunities making Saline County the best possible place to live and work.
