WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE TOY AS A KID? Beyblades

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AFTER HIGH SCHOOL? Go to college. I hope to play college football then, hopefully I can open up my own car dealership. I’d like to go to UCA.

OTHER THAN YOUR PARENTS, WHO HAS HAD THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE ON YOUR LIFE? My cousin, Jeremy Evans who plays for the Utah Jazz; just by the way he worked hard to get to where he’s at and him calling me to ask how I’m doing and everything, telling me to keep my head straight.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT FOOTBALL? The competitive nature in it, just the way you’ve got to be physical to play football. You can’t just let people push you around in order to be good in football. It’s a challenge and that’s what I like about it.

POSITION: Defensive end

WHAT DO YOU FEEL LIKE IS YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY ON THE FIELD? Do my job, contain outside if I need to, go inside if I need to. Just do my job; we need it.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE SEASON SO FAR? It’s been good. At first, we started off pretty rough. Everybody had to get into the swing of things. I wasn’t starting at the beginning. Three games went by. The fourth game they started me. Since then, we’re on a roll.

WHEN THE TEAM’S PLAYING WELL, WHAT’S THE KEY TO THAT? Everybody coming together and everybody playing as a real team with no individual thing, everybody doing everything together. It’s like an all team thing.

WHAT’S BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE SEASON SO FAR? When (Jacob) Jones went down then one of our biggest leaders Wesley (Akers) and people coming back from that like still doing good, sophomores stepping up. That’s a big deal, them doing their part and helping us be conference champions.

WHAT’S IT GOING TO TAKE FOR THE TEAM TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE PLAYOFFS? Keep doing what we’ve been doing, everybody on the same page and the coaches doing great like they usually do. Everybody just trusting each other, playing as a team.

INDIVIDUALLY, WHAT ABOUT YOUR GAME ARE YOU MOST CONFIDENT ABOUT? I guess just my quickness off the ball at the snap, using my quickness to get to the quarterback or making the plays.

WHAT DO YOU WORK HARDEST TO IMPROVE? Putting my hands on, getting extension and following it through with all the things coach tells me to do like keeping the technique that they teach me to do, make sure I’m doing it like they tell me to.

AFTER YOU’RE THROUGH PLAYING FOOTBALL AT BHS, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL REMEMBER MOST FONDLY ABOUT IT? The thing I’ll remember the most is the way I was taught how to be in a real brotherhood, with nobody doing their individual thing. I came from Sylvan Hills and at Sylvan Hills there wasn’t too much — it was a team but everybody had their individual thing. Here in Bryant, everybody’s one. There’s no individual thing. Nobody’s more important than somebody else. It’s all one and that’s what I love about it. That’s what I’ll remember the most.
