WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE TOY AS A KID? My grandma bought me a fake violin. I really liked that. It was cool. I always wanted to play violin.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AFTER HIGH SCHOOL? I’m hoping to go into ministry. I don’t have plans for college right now because I want to take a semester off and travel if I don’t go straight into ministry.

OTHER THAN YOUR PARENTS, WHO’S HAD THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE ON YOUR LIFE? HOW? My color guard coach John Ladd. He’s taught me a lot about people and discipline and dedication and responsibility.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT TRACK? I like having a family that’s not serious, not so much about track.

EVENT? High jump

WHAT APPROACH DO YOU TAKE TO YOUR EVENT? It takes a lot of practice. It’s a mental event. It takes a lot of weight training and repetition, drills and stuff like that. It’s not about increasing speed like other running events. It’s about practicing technique and practicing your form mostly.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE SEASON SO FAR? I’m proud. I’m glad that we’re doing really well. I hope that we win conference and state.

WHAT’S BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT TO THE SEASON SO FAR? We’ve won all of our outdoor meets so far.

WHAT’S IT GOING TO TAKE FOR THE TEAM TO BE SUCCESSFUL AT CONFERENCE AND STATE? Just as much dedication as we have now. I think if we keep working like we’re working then we can keep our title.

TALK ABOUT YOUR EVENT NOW; WHAT DO THINK IS YOUR BIGGEST ASSET? WHAT ARE YOU MOST CONFIDENT IN YOUR ABILITY TO DO? I’m just trying to get maximum points. That’s what coach tells me. As a teammate, I just have to pump people up. I’m more of a cheerleader for the team. As a jumper, it’s definitely technique and form. I mean, jumping high is good but if you don’t have form, you’re not going to get over the bar.

WHAT DO YOU WORK HARDEST IN PRACTICE TO IMPROVE ON? My form.

WHEN YOU’RE THROUGH RUNNING TRACK AT BRYANT HIGH SCHOOL, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL LOOK BACK AND REMEMBER MOST FONDLY ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE? Definitely the meets. I like meets. I like going to the meets and watching other people jump. It’s always fun.
