“Soft” opening for Bishop Park on Tuesday

Bryant's new Bishop Park will hold a "soft" opening to the public on Tuesday, Aug. 17.

The hours of the park will be 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday.[more]

The new park's Community Center will also be the host for the first Salt Bowl banquet to be held on Thursday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. However, the pool will not be ready to open until after Oct. 1.

"All weight room, exercise rooms, classes and basketball courts, will be available," said Derek Phillips, park supervisor.

The Park also features nine baseball fields, six softball fields and two multi-use soccer fields. "We will begin taking memberships on Tuesday," Phillips said.

For ages 55 and older the membership cost is $10; for ages 17 and under, the membership cost is also $10; for ages 18 to 54, there is a $25 per month charge and a family of five or more can get a special monthly rate of $42.

"We are really excited to get this opened to the public," Phillips said. "There has been a lot of excitement surrounding our health and fitness programs."
