Unbeaten Bryant girls breeze to 12th win, 11th shutout

Just 15 seconds into their match with the Van Buren Lady Pointers, the undefeated Bryant Lady Hornets were on the board. And they didn’t slow down as they dominated the match, scoring seven times in the first half to make it a mercy-rule contest in the second half.

The 7-0 win improved the Lady Hornets to 12-0 overall, 4-0 in the 7A/6A-Central Conference and 2-0 against 7A members of the league going into Friday’s trip match with Russellville and, on Saturday, a rematch of the 2015 Class 7A State finals with Fayetteville in Russellville.

Anna Lowery and Caroline Campbell shared the first four goals on Tuesday. Lowery had that first one off an assist from Britney Sahlmann. She then assisted on Campbell’s first goal just over a minute later.

It was Lowery’s turn at the 29:24 mark with Kendall Selig getting the assist. At 28:35, Lowery found Campbell again, who cashed in to make it 4-0.

Freshman Rachel Studdard scored off an assist from Jessica Butler at 26:80. Before the half was over, Sarah Kennedy knocked one through off a feed from Kayla Dreher and Selig found the range unassisted with 3:40 to go in the half.

In the truncated second half, the Lady Hornets’ reserves attempted just three shots as they controlled the ball and ran the clock.

The shutout was the 11th of the season for Bryant, which has surrendered just one goal in 12 matches.
