With their game against the[more] Lake Hamilton Lady Wolves eighth grade team scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 8, cancelled due to threatening weather, the Bryant White Lady Hornets eighth grade team of Bryant Middle School concluded its season on a winning note. On Thursday, Feb. 3, the Lady Hornets edged Lakewood, 30-28.
The Bryant White girls include Jayla Anderson, Lindsey Butler, Mallory Curry, Katie Davidson, Jerrica Gray, Haley Holliman, Destiny Huffman, Colleen Johnson, Miranda Lawrence, Taylor Lindberg, Makayla Nguyen, Alexis Parsely, Briana Rutherford, Sarah Shepard and Abby Staton.
Anderson and Lindberg each had 8 points for Bryant White. Anderson added seven rebounds and two steals while Lindberg collected two caroms.
Davidson and Huffman each had 4 points, State 3, Parsely 2 and Johnson 1. Davidson added four rebounds while Huffman had three boards and two thefts. Johnson hauled down three rebounds and made two steals.
“Abby Staton made a 3-point shot at the buzzer to end the third quarter,” noted Lady Hornets coach DeAnna Ward. “And Alexis Parsely came off the bench after Huffman and Johnson our two guards fouled out. She really helped out.”
