Workshop for first-time homebuyers offered

LITTLE ROCK – The clock is ticking down on the government’s $8,000 tax credit for first-time homebuyers as the credit expires November 30. First-time homebuyers and anyone who hasn’t owned a home in three years have less than four months to search for and close on a home before the opportunity to receive the $8,000 credit ends.[more]

Crye-Leike Realtors Ruth Tyson and Cassie Wells invite the public to attend a FREE educational homebuyer’s workshop and find out why now is the best time to purchase a home.

"We would like to extend an invitation to anyone who is even considering buying a home right now," said Tyson. “With the $8,000 tax credit for first-time buyers, with interest rates still at a historical low and with a good selection of homes on the market to choose from, now is a great time for anyone to purchase a home.”

The workshop will educate buyers on several important home buying topics including: how and where to start looking for a home, improving your credit score, how to get pre-approved for a home loan, the type of mortgages available and the importance of house inspection and homeowners insurance. Potential buyers are encouraged to come ask questions and learn about the entire home buying process from searching for a home and making an offer to signing papers at the closing table.

“Our goal is to inform the community of the opportunities in real estate and help individuals achieve “the American dream” of owning their own home,” said Wells.

Sellers can also find out about what things they can do to help sell their homes quicker in this current buyers market. Prospective sellers can hear what's happening in their local housing market instead of all the gloom and doom they hear in national media reports.

“It's important for the community to be educated about what's involved in the buying and selling process,” said Tyson. “We encourage people to come to the workshop and discover their best options for buying and selling in this market. This is a wonderful time to stop throwing money away on rent and start investing in your future.”

The workshop will be held at Crye-Leike, REALTORS Kanis Road branch office located at 11600 Kanis Road in Little Rock on Saturday Aug. 8, starting at 10 a.m. The event is free but an RSVP is encouraged to ensure there will be enough seating for everyone.

Tyson and Wells are licensed Realtors in Arkansas assisting buyers and sellers in and around Pulaski, Lonoke, and Saline counties. They are members of the Arkansas Realtors Association (ARA), the Little Rock Realtors Association (LRRA) and the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Both Tyson and Wells have their professional real estate designations as Accredited Buyer Representatives (ABR) and Certified Residential Specialists (CRS). Tyson serves as President of the Arkansas CRS Chapter and Wells serves as Tech Chairperson for the Arkansas CRS Chapter.

“For most individuals, there is no larger decision than buying a home,” said Wells. “People who enlist the help of a Certified Residential Specialist like Ruth and myself are getting a real estate professional with a lot of training, education, and experience to help advise clients with making the best decisions and having a happier move.”
