Senior Caitlyn Bell ran a 12:26 over the course at Bishop Park to pace the field at the annual Bryant cross country intrasquad meet on Tuesday.

The Lady Hornets — 80 strong including the junior high and high school level — were split into three teams at the event which gets the cross country season started for the program each fall.

Bryant opens the regular season on Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Arkansas Army National Guard Invitational meet at Western Hills Park in Little Rock.

Bell took individual honors with Hannah Shelby second in 12:36 and Talyn Billins third at 12:56. Billins and the White team won the team competition with 132 points. Bell and the Blue team finished second with 170, a point better than Shelby and the Black team.

The top 10 finishers for each team counted toward the team scoring.

Lauren Ackley (13:43) and Sydney Wilson (13:46) of the Black team finished fourth and fifth overall, respectively. The Blue team’s Rachel Curtis was sixth in 13:46 followed by a pair of White team members Regan Smith (14:17) and Lauren Hart (14:31).

Hart was the top finisher among the junior high runners.

Rounding up the overall top 10 were Bailey Brazil (Blue) who was ninth in 14:37 and Alanna Cordova (Black) who was 10th in 14:55.
