Bethel girls improve to 4-0

LITTLE ROCK — The Bryant Blue Lady Hornets eighth grade team of Bethel Middle School ran out to a 30-9 halftime lead and cruised to a 42-16 win over the Lady Wildcats of Episcopal Collegiate in the second round of the Wildcat Shootout Classic on Tuesday night.

Six different players contributed to the scoring for Bethel led by Raija Todd’s 18 points. Todd added six steals and four assists. Bailey Rowton and Danielle Singleton each had 8 points and three thefts. Katie Evans scored 4 points, Stephanie Cullen and Raelae Benton 2 each. Benton also made three steals. Shelby Hope and Abby Henson came up with three rebounds apiece.

“We played much better offensively and are getting more people involved in scoring, which has helped us a lot this week,” said Lady Hornets coach Rhonda Hall. “Our goal is to continue to improve each game.”

Bethel ran out to a 20-7 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Lady Hornets led 52-14 going into the fourth quarter.

Now 4-0 on the season, the Lady Hornets return to action against Lighthouse Charter of Jacksonville on Thursday, Dec. 12, at Shorter College in Little Rock.
