Anthony Rushing has his students at Bethel Middle School studying and presenting speeches on[more] the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York.

“My pre-AP classes have conducted an oral history project titled, ‘have you forgotten?’” Rushing said. “We have compiled over 90 interviews to address four research goals and are hoping to compile a DVD presentation utilizing photos, music and information from 10 years ago.”

The class will also be incorporating interview material to answer the following questions:

1. How did Americans feel now and then regarding events of 9-11?

2. Do Americans understand the past and current military operations and connection to 9-11?

3. What effect has 9-11 had on American society, politics, and economy?

4. What do Americans predict for the future after 10 years?

Students also detailed their views on the use of oral history and what they learned about 9-11.
