Bryant 13s among final four Regional teams battling to get to title round

BENTONVILLE — The Bryant 13-year-old Babe Ruth All-Stars was set to play at noon today in the loser's bracket final of the Southwest Regional Tournament. Bryant won its second-round game, 9-4, over Springdale on Saturday to advance to the winners bracket final against McComb, Miss., on Sunday. Sunday's games werIn a game in which Bryant led most of the way, McComb tied it 5-5. Bryant squeezed in the go-ahead run to take the lead only to have McComb squeeze in its own to tie it then win it on a sacrifice fly.[more]

McComb advances to the championship round and Bryant was set to play later on Monday against the winner of a losers bracket game between Plainview, Texas and Eagle Pass, Texas. But rain washed out those games, setting up a full day on Tuesday. Plainview and Eagle Pass were playing this morning with the winner taking on Bryant at noon. The survivor would play McComb in the championship round, needing two wins to take the title and advance to the World Series.

Normally, no team is supposed to play three games in one day but because of the rainout and the upcoming World Series, officials were considering waving that rule, according to Bryant manager Jason Thompson, who expressed his intention of protesting such a decision.

I BELIEVE THAT THE RULES SHOULD NOT BE CHANGE.BECAUSE YOU WILL ONE TEAM THAT IS RESTED WHILE THE OTHER TEAM MAY BE PLAYING THIER SECOND OR THIRD GAME OF THE DAY.I BELIEVE THAT THEY SHOULD BOTH BE WELL RESTED AND READY TO PLAY THE NEXT DAY AFTER ALL WE ARE PLAYING FOR A BIRTH IN THE WORLD SERIES.
