LITTLE ROCK — After opening with a pair of convincing victories this season, the Bryant Blue Lady Hornets eighth grade basketball team tasted defeat[more] for the first time Monday night when the host team rallied for a 26-25 win at the annual Anthony School Classic.
The Bryant Blue team includes Annamarie Blair, Isabella Bluemmel, Julie Brazil, Nikki Clay, Haley Dellis, Brittany Kelley, Mercedes Dillard, Yessenia Gasper, Katelyn Giffin, Emily Henson, Allison Hughes, Jamie Jamison, Rylee Phillips, Saide Powers, and Dominque West.
The Lady Hornets held an 11-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. Anthony School’s Lady Panthers came back to knot it up at 15 at the half but Bryant held a 19-17 edge going into the final period.
Clay led the Lady Hornets with 7 points. Bluemmel added 5, Hughes and Dellis 4 each. Jamison pitched in 3 points to go with a team-high nine rebounds. Phillips collected four boards.
The Lady Hornets were set to return to tournament action tonight at 5:30 against Little Rock Episcopal.
