Bryant sophomore team falls victim to second-half rally

BENTON — The Benton Panthers junior varsity rallied from an 18-7 deficit at halftime to defeat the Bryant Hornets sophomore JV team Monday night, 34-18.

To gain the lead, Bryant’s Brooks Ellis had an interception that he returned 80 yards for a touchdown.

“That really got the momentum in our favor,” said Hornets assistant Clint Shadwick.

Quarterback Reid Mobley added a touchdown on a scramble from 8 yards out then Jamel Johnson ran one in from the 12.

“We lost the momentum in the second half,” Shadwick said. “Benton came out the second half with a lot of energy and we couldn’t match it.”

The Bryant sophomore team plays again on Oct. 26 at Malvern.
