Bryant team begins play in Babe Ruth World Series Saturday

PINE BLUFF — The South Arkansas State champion Bryant All-Stars will begin play in the 2015 Babe Ruth Baseball Babe Ruth 14-year-old World Series on Saturday, Aug. 15, at 1:30 p.m., at Seabrook Field.

The Bryant team members are Jacob Coppock, Logan Grant, Logan Chambers, Cade Dupree, Coby Greiner, Ryan Taylor, Brock Bariola, Logan Catton, Will McEntire, Sawyer Holt, Ryan Lessenberry, Cameron Tipton, Elijah King and Clift Chaffin. They are managed by Michael Catton with help from assistant coaches Phillip Dupree and Madison McEntire.

The tournament features teams from across the country, which have won Regional Tournaments. The teams are split into two divisions of six teams each for pool play. Bryant is part of the American Division, which also includes co-host White Hall; Middle Atlantic Regional champion Atlantic Short, N.J.; Ohio Valley champion Franklin-Simpson, Ky.; New England champion Portland, Maine; and Pacific Southwest champion, Tri-Valley, Calif.

Bryant will open pool play on Saturday against Franklin-Simpson, Ky. The pool schedule for Bryant will continue as the team faces White Hall at Seabrook on Sunday at noon, Atlantic Shore, N.J., at Taylor Field on Monday at 2:30 p.m., Portland, Maine at Seabrook on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., and Tri-Valley, Calif., at Taylor on Wednesday at noon.

The top three teams in each division advance to bracket play, which begins on Thursday, Aug. 20, with all games at Taylor Field.

The National Division includes co-host Seabrook of Pine Bluff along with the Pine Bluff Northern All-Stars, Pacific Northwest Regional champion, Hazel Del Metro, Wash., Southwest Regional champion Sylacauga, Ala., Midwest Plains champion Bonnville, Mo., and Southeast champion Gainesville-Haymarket, Va.

The World Series banquet is tonight at 6 p.m., at the White Hall Community Center. Opening Ceremonies are Saturday, Aug. 15, at 6 p.m., at Taylor Field in Pine Bluff. There will be a fireworks display at the conclusion of games at Taylor Field on Saturday.
