Bryant White seventh grade girls come up short but continue improvement

The improvement of the Bryant White Lady Hornets seventh grade team of Bryant Middle School continued Monday night but victory evaded them as the Sheridan Lady Jackets prevailed 25-14 at the BMS gym.

The Lady Hornets are scheduled to play again tonight at Cabot North.

“We played better than we did last week,” acknowledged Lady Hornets coach Ben Perry. “We didn’t make as many violations as we did last week and we got to the foul line.

“The girls played tough defenisively by not giving up too many easy baskets,” he said. “However, we shot 26 free throws and only made six. Sheridan shot 21 free throws and made 11 of them.”

Kylee Fleharty and Jayla Knight each had 3 points for Bryant. Jasmine Kearney and Bailey Zimmerman scored 2 apiece with Ava Singleton, Makayla Davidson, Lauren Lain and Haya Winfield each hitting a free throw.

“The girls played very hard and I can see improvement every week,” Perry stated. “With an inexperienced group like this, we must make improvements every week and continue to work to get better. Although it’s frustrating to m=not take a win, it’s also good to see the girls’ spirits up and the willingness to work hard to get better. We are working on our fundaments and working to get that win.”
