Diamond Sports to host base-running, pitching clinics

A base-running clinic, with former college player and high school coach Carl Martinous, will be held Sunday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m., at Diamond Sports of Bryant. Cost is $15 for non-members, free for members.[more]

Martinous played college baseball for both Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Junior College and UALR. He has been an assistant groundskeeper for the Arkansas Travelers, a volunteer coach at Little Rock Catholic, and held various administrative positions in the UALR Athletic program. In 2003, he became the athletic director and head baseball coach at St. Joseph Catholic School in Pine Bluff. In 2006, Martinous started the Arkansas Baseball Academy, an organization that helps high school players find a place to play college ball. He is a hitting and infield/outfield instructor for Diamond Sports.

Former Major League pitcher and college coach Geoff Zahn is returning to Diamond Sports of Bryant.

Coach Zahn will be available for 45-minute private and semi private lessons Wednesday, Nov. 17 through Saturday, Nov. 20. Semi private lessons are only available to those students who have taken lessons with Coach Zahn before.[more]

Fees are $60 for one private lesson; $45 per player for one semi private lessonZahn has been a pitching instructor for over 20 years. He has worked with pitchers of all ages and has authored several articles for MLB.com and Collegiate Baseball. As a Major League pitcher for over 11 years, he was with the Dodgers, Cubs, Twins, and Angels. He is the former head baseball coach at the University of Michigan and is the founder of the Master Pitching Institute and GeoffZahn.com.
