Goodwill offering assistance with inexpensive Halloween costumes

Halloween is next week – do you have your costume yet? If not, Goodwill Industries of Arkansas would[more] like to help. Stores are now stocked with items to help assemble a creative, one-of-a-kind costume for around $10.

When you shop for a costume at Goodwill, you support the mission of helping people find jobs and you are being resourceful by purchasing gently used items. It’s also fun to search the racks in pursuit of pieces to make the ideal ensemble. Goodwill stores carry adults and kids’ clothes, so finding costumes for the whole family is simple and inexpensive.

If you are stuck in a costume slump, visit Goodwill’s online chamber of costumes for quick and easy ideas. The chamber can jump start your creative juices and show you how to make a costume at a budget-friendly price. Most of the ideas include two to three pieces and are easy to put together.

Here a few of the Halloween costume ideas from clothing and accessory items that can be found on the shelves at Goodwill:

• Tourist: Hawaiian T-shirt, Bermuda shorts and sandals. Accessorize with a camera and visor.

• Scarecrow: Overalls and a plaid shirt. Accessorize with straw, patches on the overalls and a hat.

• 80’s girl: Oversized sweatshirt, tank top, stretch pants and leg warmers. Tease your hair and party all night long.

In addition, you can enter Goodwill’s online costume contest and win an $85 Goodwill shopping spree by submitting your photo in your Goodwill Halloween costume. Send photos to marketing@goodwillar.org. Entries will be accepted now through Nov. 3. A winner will be selected at random.
