KICKS 5 at CES

A group of fifth grade students recently completed a rigorous application process to become officers of KICKS 5 (Kids Improving Community Through Kindness and Service) at Collegeville Elementary School.

The students, pictured above include, front, Lawson Speer and Mason Butler; second row, Ella Grace Pengelly, Jessica Roberts, Elizabeth Arnold, Hailee Bowers; third row, Edric Brillantes, Austin Scott, CES principal Katie Thomas, Justin Hall, Connor Corley; fourth row, Isaac Devine, Rylee Suggs, Jade Rivers, Monica Shifflet, Scarlet Matlock, Alec Humphreys, Blake Everett

The team will have opportunities throughout the school year to practice leadership skills while participating in community service activities.

Students were required to currently have 3.0 grade point average, approval from administration in regards to behavior, and reference letters from previous teachers. The process also required reference checks, a writing sample, and an interview.

The students and sponsors extended appreciation to community members Michelle Pounds and Hammett Evans, Bryant School Board vice-president Mike Ferguson, and PTO vice-president Candi Coats for helping with the application process. Thomas also served on the selection committee.

    So wonderful to see young minds and future adults participating in such a great action. Hats off to these kids for setting such a good example for others.
