Lake Hamilton takes advantage of slow start by Lady Hornets freshmen

After playing a very good Cabot White team to the hilt last Thursday, the frustrations, particularly on offense, returned for the Bryant Lady Hornets freshman team on Monday against the Lake Hamilton Lady Wolves.

In the third meeting between the two teams, the Lady Hornets were unable to score until Paige Adams hit a free throw with 1:51 left in the first half. By then, the Lady Wolves had accumulated a 17-0 lead.

It was almost even the rest of the game but the slow start cost Bryant in a 35-17 loss.

Raven Loveless led Bryant with 10 points, all in the second half. Adams finished with 3. Daniele Singleton and Kelly Williams had 2 each.

Lake Hamilton built a 9-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. After Adams broke the ice for Bryant, Lake Hamilton scored again. With :17 left in the half, Williams knocked down a 15-foot jumper and it was 19-3 at the half.

To start the second half, Loveless got her first basket and followed up with a steal. But the Lady Hornets were unable to take advantage.

Back to back baskets by the Lady Wolves made it 23-4. Adams scored on a short jumper and Singleton drilled a baseline jumper to trim the lead to 15. A pair of baskets by Loveless in the final minute of the third quarter had Bryant within 26-12.

But that was as close as they could get. Lake Hamilton eventually pushed the lead back to 19 before both teams worked in most of their reserves.

The Lady Hornets face another tough challenge when they return to action this Thursday at North Little Rock.
